Hi everyone
Iām the developer behind Bloom, a privacyāfirst, accessibilityāfocused web app Iām building on Replit. Bloom is designed to support trans people, neurodivergent people, and anyone who needs gentle, nonāinvasive tools to help with daily life. Itās important to me that Bloom stays free forever, no matter how many features I add or how much the project grows.
Because of that, Iām trying to figure out a safe, ethical way to accept donations from anyone who wants to support the project. Iām a solo developer, and I want to make sure I choose a method that protects user privacy, protects my own privacy, and doesnāt force people into platforms that track them or collect unnecessary data.
Iāve looked into a few options, but each one has tradeāoffs. Some require linking GitHub (which doesnāt fit my setup right now), some donāt support oneātime donations, and some feel too invasive or corporate for what Bloom stands for. I want to make the right choice ā something simple, transparent, and aligned with Bloomās values.
So Iām reaching out to the dev community for guidance.
If youāve navigated this before, or if you know donation platforms that are:
⢠privacyārespecting
⢠safe for both creator and supporters
⢠friendly to small, communityāfocused projects
⢠easy to link from a web app
⢠supportive of oneātime or recurring donations
ā¦Iād really appreciate your insight.
Bloom is something Iām building with a lot of care, and I want to make sure that anyone who chooses to support it can do so comfortably and safely. The app will always remain free ā donations would simply help me cover hosting, development time, and future updates so I can keep improving it for the people who need it.
